New Custom Mouldings
Our custom department can make the tooling to match the profile that you need.
Whether you are restoring a mansion and need to replace an existing
molding or building your dream home and want just the right detail,
we can make it happen; all we need is a piece of molding, a drawing,
or a sketch. We can do the rest.

| Before
a new moulding is made it is necessary to produce a CAD drawing of the new profile. |
From the computer drawing, a metal template is carefully fabricated to the exact dimensions. |

| The steel knives are secured in a moulding head which is then placed on an arbor and mounted in a profile grinder along with the metal template. | ||

The
metal template is used as a guide to grind the high speed steel
knives to the correct shapes and sizes.
|
|
|
The process is very similar to key making, using another key as a template guide. Although appearing to be a simple process, it takes a lot of skill and practice to be able to grind moulder knives that will yield a good finish. |

We have 4 people who are capable of grinding knives in our plant. Over the years, we have produced hundreds of templates and knives. Because of the substantial investment in knives and in order to to reduce setup time, it is necessary to take very good care of our tooling and knives. |
